This weak in SNL – March 5, 2011

March 7, 2011

Woooo weeeee. Boy howdy. No words.

I was so excited about how bad this week’s episode was going to be.  Don’t get me wrong, it was really, really bad.  No matter what character Miley Cyrus tries to play, she always ends up sounding like Vanessa Bayer doing Miley Cyrus (which is good for Vanessa Bayer!).  But there were some little tiny bright spots, and it gave me a feeling like when you haven’t done dishes for weeks and weeks and then you start and it’s awful and you don’t seem to be making any progress and then, suddenly, you realize you can see the bottom of your sink.  Fred Armisen was a good Qaddafi/Ghaddafi/Getoffme.  Taran Killam was a good Galliano.   That sketch about the face cream/rockabilly CD was almost good! Chris Elliot’s daughter can be funny. Not-Kel was funny in the Disney Channel thing.  Andy Samberg did his best Andy Samberg impressions.

But these week’s Top Not Not Funny prize goes to Weekend Update.  Usually there’s some bad ‘guests’ on WU and I really miss having two anchors/having Norm McDonald, but this week was pretty funny.  The Charlie Sheen bits were clever, not as clever as Jimmy Fallon’s thing with the cologne, but clever.  So here you go.  March 12 is Zach Galllifinnnakkkkisssss and some musical guest called Jessie J whom I’ve never heard of because I’m out of touch.  I hope they make better use of ZG this time.  Except no I don’t.
